The probability of impact is estimated at 1.47%, and if it occurs, the damage could be significantly worse than in 2013, when the meteor’s shockwave damaged around 100,000 buildings and injured over 1,600 people.

The asteroid was discovered in December 2024, and its estimated diameter ranges from 40 to 90 meters—comparable to the Chelyabinsk meteor. However, precise trajectory calculations are still lacking, and scientists continue to monitor the object.

New observations planned for March and May will help refine its orbit. The asteroid is being tracked by experts from NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and observatories in the U.S. and Chile.
