Astronomers are anticipating a rare celestial event on January 21—a planetary alignment. Six planets of the Solar System—Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn—will line up and be visible simultaneously. The best time to observe this phenomenon is during the dark hours, from January 21 through January 25.
Four of these planets—Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn—can be seen with the naked eye. To spot Uranus and Neptune, however, you’ll need a telescope or binoculars. This alignment offers an excellent opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts to view multiple planets in the same sector of the sky.
An exciting addition to this spectacle will occur in late February when Mercury joins the alignment. At that time, all seven planets of the Solar System, except for Earth, will be visible in the night sky, making this event even more extraordinary.
