Quantum Physicists Suggest Time Could Flow Backward SCIENCE

Scientists from the University of Surrey have concluded that, at the quantum level, time may move not only forward but also backward. Physicist Thomas Guff explained that the laws of quantum mechanics allow time to flow in both directions for individual particles, but in complex systems, this symmetry disappears. Researchers attempted to determine at what point this transition occurs.

An analysis of quantum systems interacting with their environment revealed that, contrary to previous assumptions, the energy of such systems does not always indicate a strict direction of time. Physicist Andrea Rocco noted that classical equations did not account for this, and if the possibility of time reversal is considered, the mathematical description of processes changes.

Professor Gonzalo Ordoñez suggested that if the universe is an open system, there might exist another universe where time flows in the opposite direction. However, Rocco urged caution, emphasizing that researchers do not yet fully understand how this mechanism works.
